AMERICA TO CONTROL PUBLIC EATING IN VIENNA.

The state government of Vienna has turned over to Dr. Herrwand Geist, of the American relief administration committee, the entire problem of public eating winter. The lack of fuel will cause the feeding of 1,000,000 at public kitchens this winter and Dr. Geist becomes virtually the food dictator of the city so far as his phase of its victualing is concerned. He will organise the kitchens and - ~<yther necessary details and whatever importations are based on entente credits will be controlled and issued by him. Announcement was made that the allotment of coal for domestic cooking purposes has been reduced to seventeen kilograms (37% pounds) weekly for each household. It is problematical whether even this small amount can be supplied.
