TOM LYNCH AS UMPIRE
Totn Lynch, who was the president of the National league in 1913, was at one time a famous umpire. His manner, dignity and courtesy impressed all he met, and his personality dominated the whole fielij. When he made a decision there was such positiveness about it that no one questioned No one ever saw Lynch around the hotels at night. He always held himself aloof from the players, and they seldom caught a glimpse of him until he came on the field to umpire the gameĀ» He was known for his general good conduct and honesty.
