D. Bringle, of this city, at Aix. He was hurriedly brought to the hospital here by a {local physician and his injuries exlamined. It was found that his right | leg had been broken and that he was suffering from a deep scalp wound and a badly bruised left aide. The boy had gone to Aix with his mother to purchase some groceries and was standing on the running board of their car in front of the store when Mr. Bringle started by. According to witnesses the lad failed to note the approach of the car and jumped from the running board into the middle of the road and directly into the path bf Mr. Bringle’s
.machine. , Mr. Bringle states that he had slowed his car down to a slow rate of speed upon approaching Aix and that, his vision was obstructed to some extent by several vehicles that blocked the road and left him a passageway of only about fifteen feet in width. The lad was struck by the radiator of the car and knocked down, the machine passing directly over his body. Mr. Bringle did not bring his machine to a halt immediately, as he feared by so doing the victim might be crushed to death by the weight of the car. Witnesses to the accident state that it was unavoidable on the part of Mr. Bringle and are attaching no blame to him. It is said that the parents of the boy also feel that Mr. Bringle was not at fault and that he did everything within his power to avoid the accident. Reports from the hospital this afternoon say that the young man is getting along fairly well and that there is but small chance of his injuries resulting fatally.
