A senator, apropos of the huge quantity of army meat which ’it was proposed should be sold to the packers for less than Half the price paid them by the government, said: . “Why sell this meat to the packers? Would .it not be better to sell it to consumers direct and thus aid in reducing the cost of living? ’ ’The senator added bitterly: “The high cost of living!
