BOAR ONCE OWNED BY ROCKFIELD MAN BRINGS $25,000.
Carroll county, the holder of many honors, already, had another thrust upon it last Thursday when Evolution, an IS-monfehs-old male -hog; —formerly—owned—by—-William.. Funkhouser, of the Rockfield Breeders’ association, breeders of Big Type Poland Chinas and whose sales are famous the United States over, was sold at Algonia, lowa, by a Mr. Green to Harry Uppdegard for $25,000, making the hog the highest priced that has ever been sold in this country regardless of breed. Evolution was farrowed a year ago last March and is sired by Miller’s Giant. Last summer Mr. Funkhouser—attended.—the.... Miller—sale at Lynn, Ind., and the porker attracted his attention. Although only a few months old it was'finally auctioned to the Carroll .county for S3OO. He brought him to Rockfield and placed him in his fall sale and on November 28 sold him to the lowa breeder for SBOO, a profit of SSOO in a little over a month. At that time the field men said the hog would be heard from at a future date and that prediction was made true in the record price ! paid for h|m at the lowa sale last, week. Evolution weighs close to 850 pounds, is a good long fellow and sleek as a ribbon. Mr. Funkhouser, of course, is highly elated over the fact that he was for a short time the owner of such a noted hog, thereby giving Can-oil county an interesting part in his history, a championship one.
