London. —The loneliest boy soldier In the world, probably, is Private Thomas William Smith, who lost his father, mother, four brothers and three sisters in the war and is the sole surviving member of this family. His father and four brothers were killed on the same day—July 15, 1916 —in the first advance at the battle of the Somme. His three sisters were killed in air raids —one at Addiscombe, CroydOnpin 1915, and the others in the East end of London in 1916.
