MELON GROWERS FACE HEAVY LOSS IN INDIANA.
Vincennes, Ind., August B.—As the result of an embargo being placed on perishables by the railroads, due to the strike of union shopmen, melon growers and shippers in Knox county face the loss |of thousands of dollars. Although there is less than twenty carloads of 'cantaloupes to be shipped, the watermelon season will open tomorrow and the only solution the growers see is to place the product on the local market, which means a great reduction in prices and big losses. The Winkler Mercantile j company reports the loss of several carloads of cantaloupes in Indiana cities, where railroad employes refused to handle .them.
