Louie Reeb and brother-in-law and Ed Cavendish left Monday for Fowler to work in the harvest fields. i Bessie Snow ,who has been working in Chicago Heights, was here the past week visiting with her sister, Mrs. Cm! Bowman. The young folks of this community enjoyed a party at the home of Miss Inez Flesher in honor of Misa Bessie Snow, who has been visiting j here. Refreshments were served 'and games were played and a good time was enjoyed by everyone. Although the evening was rather cool for ice cream, everyone enjoyed it just the same. i Muck fires are still busy, although Iwe had a nice shower recently. Threshing will soon be the order of the day and everyone is busily stacking their grain and hauling coal from Newland. Mr. Boone was in -this neighborhood Thursday overhauling John Eger’s threshing outfit. Parties, dances, then still more parties and dances; A Sunday morning a few of our boys visited the ditch where the dredge has been working and went in swimming. Grady* Willbanks ■topped on the sprinb-board, which happened to be- loose, and went into the water backwards. Some of the O'lder 'boys went in and pulled him out and prevented what might j otherwise have beep a serious accident. John Allen, of Cincinnati, Q., helped Mrs. Otto Adams cook for i John L. Nichols’ threshers FriSwaim and Miss Erma Adams attended the dance at Kniman , Saturday evening. I Tom Reea returned to his home 'in Kokomo Friday morning. Miss Opal Hanlons, of Gifford; Ted Clausson and Miss Mattie Willbanks, of Newland, and Lloyd Harper, of Moody, Were calling on Miss Rosamond Koss Sunday. Ella Flesher was calling on Mary Richards Sunday.afternoon. I Gladys Smith and Ernest HReis were married at Rensselaer on July 19 at 5:30 o’clock by Rev. J. B. Fleming. They expect to make their home on John Eger’s farm west of Newland for the present. The people of Newland extend congratulations and best wishes.
