KEEPING CHICKENS IN TOWN
In many towns and cities there are ordinances restricting the keeping of fowls under certain conditions, namely, that the neighbors shall not be annoyed by the crowing of the male birds and that the poultry house must be located a specified distance from any dwelling. Under such conditions, says the United States department of agriculture, a permit should be easv to obtain and the conditions set forth, complied with. The male bird in the flock is not necessary for the production of eggs and usually the house can be so located and kept clean that it will not annoy the neighbors.
