Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ringheisen and children and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cochran visited Mr. Cochran’s brother in Bepton county Sunday. The Ladies’ Aid society was entertained last Wednesday by Mrs. O. Berry and Mrs. Charles Ferguson at the latter’s home. Refreshments of ice cream, cake and lemonade were served. The society will meet the first Wednesday in August at Mrs. George Johnson’s. Mrs. Zelpha Brown will assist in entertaining. Oletus "Ray went to Laporte last Thursday after Mr. and Mrs. Verna Ray. Mr. and Mrs. Ray visited Mrs. Ray’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. Ritchey, Saturday and - Sunday. Little Ida May Widner was quite sick Saturday. The doctor said she had been overcome by the heat. Quite a few of our people spent the Fourth at home this year. What did celebrate went to Francesville. Mrs. “Russell “Willittsis the champion snake killer in McCoysburg, having shot and killed a big bull snake in Eldridge’s back yard last Thursday that measured six feet in length. , , Mr. and Mrs. John Ray and uncle, Frank of Elwood, came to visit the former’s brother, Jacob Ray, and family Saturday. Mrs. William Willitts has been quite sick the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Glarenee Garison visited Hershel Ray and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eldridge were guests of the former’s brother, Korah, Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Margaret Tudor, who had been visiting relatives in Bryan, 0., returned to her Thorne here Monday. Miss Margaret Pdulton killed and Miss Mildred Farmer injured when an automobile in which they were riding was struck by a Monon train near Greencastle Sunday. The work of remodeling the Van Rensselaer club rooms is progressing nicely and it is thought that the Carpenters will have their work completed sooner than anticipated. Fourteen members of the band were present at. a meeting held Monday evening for the purpose of organizing for concerts for the remainder of the summer. The first concert will be held Wednesday evening and a large crowd is expected to be present.
The board of commissioners established the Wasson ditch at its July term. This is a reconstruction of the O’Meara ditch which crosses the range line road about a mile and a half south of town.
