• Herbert Hammond and Harold ’Clark were in Chicago Sunday watching the Sox trounce Detroit. E. K. Godshall returned today from Aurora, 111., where he had visited with his son and daughter. • Mr., and Mrs. John Marling returned to their home at Ironton, 0., today after visiting their two sons, who are at St. Joseph’s college. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Moss, of Champagne, 111., and Mr, and Mrs. H. Wienemann, of Chicago, returned to their homes today after spending the Fourth and week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sayler. • Hans Paulsen, of Harvey, 111., was in Rensselaer today. Mr. Paulsen was formerly a resident of Kankakee township, this county, and was for a number of years trustee of that township. He and his wife are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Englebert Jensen, of Wheatfield. Mr. Jensen accompanied Mr. Paulsen to this city. Miss Maude Allen, of Ypsilanti, Mich., is the guest of Miss Gertrude Hopkins and other friends here? Miss Allen was for a number of years a members of the Rensselaer high school faculty and was teacher of Latin. She is pow a member of the Michigan library ’ commission and spends much of her time instructing the teachers of that state in matters relative to library work. E. J. Duvall, who was arrested recently on charges of trespass by Ben Smith when it is alleged he interfered with the building of a cement driveway at the home of Dr. Arthur iG. Catt, has taken a change of venue and the case has been continued. Mayor Spitler will appoint a local attorney to try the ease.
