It Still Held Good.
George Ade was talking about the high cost of living at Palm Beach. He said: “While a Palm Beach barber was shaving me one day, I asked him if he knew the significance of the red and white striped pole outside his shop. “*I do, sir,’ the barber answered. •That pole dates from the days when barbers were also surgeons.
