Mr. Hartley will come from Lafayette Sunday and they will visit here for a short time. Helen Kiplinger and Ruth McKenzie came Thursday from Louisville, Ky. They have been attending school at the Sacred Heart academy. 'Definite steps toward the organization of a community welfare association in Winamac 'have been taken during the past week. Mike Wagoner and C. E. Garver started on a two weeks’ vacation Thursday. They will go to Chicago and some lakes in Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Long and daughters, Marjorie June and Esther Elizabeth, will come from Covington, Ohio, today to visit Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Long.

Elmore band at Monticello is drawing very large crowds to that city for its Wednesday evening concerts. Raymond F., the eight-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Antrim, of Gifford, died Thursday. The funeral services will be held Saturday and interment will be made in the Kniman cemetery. Parsons, squires and other folks who have the power to tie nuptial knots are bewailing the scant remuneration they are receiving during what is generally their best marrying month—June. To date the county’s young folks have been slackers, but seven couples wending their way to the clerk’s office so far during the present month to have the papers fixed which will permit their hearts to beat as one.
