FISH AND GAME MEETING TUESDAY EVENING. There will be a meeting at the Moose hall at 8 o’clock Tuesday evening, June 3, to which the public is invited. The object of the meeting is to interest the citizens of Jasper county in the propagation and protection of fish, game and birds. All sportsmen of the county are requested to attend the meeting, and the farmers especially are invited to attend, as there is no subject so vital at this time as the protection of the song and insectivorous birds which are the protectors of the crops. Senator E. A. Norman, of the Indiana fish and game commission, will be present and explain the objects and benefits to be gained by the help and po-operation of the commission. It is a cause worthy of all lawabiding citizens, whether they fish and hunt or not. Any information in regard to the meeting (Tuesday will be w given by Moses Leopold and others who are interested tin the subject. Mr. Norman comes to assist in the welfare of local conditions in connection with the state commission. His services are free and there is no * money or fees to be paid to the state for the help rendered.
Mrs. Charles Saidla, formerly of this city, but now of Syracuse, is visiting relatives at Monon. Ray Laßue returned to Chicago Sunday evening after spending the week-end here with his parents. S. H. Huffman, of Laihar, Colorado, is here for an» extended visit with his sister, Mrs. M. D. Grimes, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Griffin, of Monticello, spent Memorial day in Remington with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Griffin.
Jacob Moore returned to Racine, Wis., Sunday, after spending Memorial day here with his family. Jacob is employed by the International Harvester company. Among those attending the speedway races from here. Saturday were: H. B. Tuteur, Devere Yeoman, Vern Nowels, Harve Hemphill, H. A. Kirk, Delos Thompson, Alfred Thompson, Harvey Meyers and Landy Magee. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Kindig and Mrs. Ella Nash, of Oskaloosa, lowa, are here the guests of the Rev. and Mrs. H. L Kindig F. E. Kindig and the Rev. Kindig are cousins. The trip from lowa to Monticello was made by automobile. —Monticello Evening Journal. Frederick Kuonen, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Kuonon, was run over by *an automobile Saturday, May 24, and quite seriously injured. The Kuonen family now resides at Reynolds. The Rev. Kuonen was formerly pastor of the Barkley Methodist church. The Rev. Fred Longwell, formerly prosecuting attorney of the JasperNewton judicial circuit, but now pastor of the Monon Methodist church, made the Memorial address at Monticello. The' address was made in the Presbyterian church of that city.
