WHITE COUNTY WANTS . NORTH AND SOUTH ROAD
A petition under the County Highway Unit law is being circulated throughout White county asking for a county road from the county line between White and Tippecanoe counties south of Brookston, extending through Brookston, Chalmers, Reynolds and Monon and connecting with a road to Rensselaer. The road will be known as the Joseph S. Minch et al road. A. K. Sill, Jr., is the attorney for the petitioners. The proposed road, is completed, would be thirty-two miles in length and eighteen feet wide. The material used will be brick or cement. This road together with the proposed Corn Belt road to be built by the state from Logansport to Kentland and passing through White county from east to west would make a splendid foundation for a real system of highways in that county. The commissioners of White county awarded the contract for the repairing of the court house at Monticello, Monday, to Lane-Pykes-Werk-hoff company, of Lafayette. The work is to be done for $4,867 and includes the construction of new toilets. Much complaint of the unsanitary condition of the toilets in this building has been made.
