A force of men are busy this week installing the new modern ice making cooling plant and when finished DeMotte can boast of one of the best up-to-date meat markets in this part of the state. Henry Swart and wife and Arthur Lagevern and wife, attended high school commencement at Wheatfield, last Friday evening. Johanna and Martha DeCook and Miss Ethel Hockney attended the high school play at Wheatfield last Thursday evening. Mrs. Oliver Krey returned from Chicago after a weeks visit with her parents. , It is reported that John DeKock has become a real ladies man and took his best to church. That’s right John. Alys 80l went to Shelby Saturday for a few days visit with Mr. and Mrs. George Dickey. Fred Granger and family motored here Sunday and spent the day visiting relatives and friends. Raymond White, of Hammond, visited over Sunday with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. Al Konovsky motored to Rensselaer last Saturday. Izzie Curtin returned from Hammond Sunday with his diver all newly painted up. Now girl, get busy. Harry Bierma and wife and John Felthouse and wife, of Chicago, came out for an outing at their club, north of town. ’ Chas Enz shipped one car load of hogs and two cars of cattle to the U. S. yards last week and received the top prrice for hogs, $20.95. And some folks act like the people don’t know how to raise and feed bogs in the Kankakee Valley. E. Moss and family, of Chicago, were visitors at their farm northeast of here Sunday. * „. , x J. W. Spindler, of Chicago Heights, visited at his farm north of town over Sundya. Dr. Hewitt has returned from overseas and it at Camp Custer, Mich., and he is expected to return here soon. , . Vera True who has been visiting her aunt in Chicago the past winter, returned home last Saturday. Quite a number from here attended the meeting of the Improvement association at Wheatfield Tuesday. Fred Keoster has returned here after a siege in a hospital at Chicago.
