CHAUTAUQUA.

O. O. Bettdorf, of the Redpath Chautauqua association, was in Rensselaer recently in the interest of their bureau. He was in conference with a number of the. staunch Chautauqua supporters of the past, and from those who have listened to thenproposals, we learn they are impressed with the fairness of the contract. As this company will come to Rensselaer furnishing a SI2OO program, do their own advertising, pay their own expenses while 'here and do the manual work jin ci dent to the erection of tent and furnish own seating, ana require of Rensselaer a guarantee of two-thirds of program price. This is the same -company who have this year contracted with Monticello. You recall the trouble they had with another company last year. If the lovers of the chautauqua wish this enterprise to live in Rensselaer you will have to express yourselves to the local organization in a manner that assures them of sufficientsupportto make it worth while. No up-to-date city can afford to miss the good things that sometimes come to them. If you really are in> terested and will give expression to your wishes, a good chautauqua may come here again.
