“Strike” Germ Got Nurses.

The “strike” germ affects even nurses, apparently, for recently 90 : probationers employed by Bermondsey guardians at Rotherhithe (Eng.) infirmary went to the matron’s office and demanded that they should have one full day off duty a week, as was agreed when they were appointed. Recently the day oft was cut to half a day on account of Influenza and shortness of staff. The matron persuaded the probationers to return to duty instead of striking as threatened, and after consulting the medical superintendent, who is in bed with Influenza, It was agreed that the- request be granted. Another grievance, that the probationers had not received a war bonus, will again be referred to x the guardians. .
