SAVES BILL FROM DEFEAT
REPRESENTATIVE WOOD SAVES HIS LOAN SHARK BILL. Representative W. L. Wood has introduced in the Indiana house of representatives what seems to be a very important bill This bill has for lilts purpose to make lilt less expensive on the person who as forced to borrow small sums of money and are unable to give bankable security. Representative Wood’s bill amends the present Joan shark laiw by cutting the maximum of the loan from $300.00 to $200.00 and reduces the interest from 3 to 2 cents per month. Friday this bill was reported for indefinite postponement by the committee having it in charge. With 'an adverse report it is very difficult to get favorable action by the house Of representatives. However, Representative Wood went after the matter in earnest and i nspiite of the full committee opposing him vigorously he succeeded iln havihg theiir report set aside. Attorney Sands, who was present at the time of the battle, reports that our representative acquitted himself splendidly and won ia very important as well as quite a decided victory. Attorney Sands is ham e for the week-end and further reports that Representative Wood expected to go to Shelbyville today to see his wife, who is quite sick in a sanitarium in that city.
