HANGING GROVE.
Mr. and Ms. Vern Kennel returned to their home at Anderson Wednesday after a visit since Sunday with Mrs. O. A. Moore and other relatives in Hanging Grove township and Rensselaer. Mrs. Kennel was formerly Miss Alta Parker, daughter of Jake Parker. Church was well attended at McGoysburg Sunday evening. Church every two weeks in the evening and Sunday school every morning at 10 o’clock. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cochran got his hand caught in the clothes wringer Tuesday and mashed his first finger on the right hand so badly that the Doctor » afraid it will have to be taken off at the first joint Mrs. Verne E. Bussell and children returned Tuesday from Hammond, where they had been visiting relatives since Friday of last week. Vern W. Smith, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam Smith, died at his late home in the east part of this township last Monday of influenza. He was 18 years and seven days old. Wayne, another son of Mr. Smith, is
very sick wit hthe same disease. The Country Club will give a reception for John Cook Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cook. John is the only member of the club called to service. . Most of the members were present at the Ladies’ Aid, which met with Mrs. J. R. Phillips Wednesday, Jan. 15. The next social will be at the home of Mrs. W. Cook Feb. 5. Mrs- O. A. Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Kennel visited George Parker’s Tuesday afternoon.
