BASEBALL PLAYERS LOSE SOFT SHIPYARDS BERTH

Ball players who fail to make good at their jobs in the shipyards are being placed in the army. Recently three major leaguers were taken from an Easterji shipyard and ordered into the service. , They were: “Dutch” Leonard, formerly of the Red Sox; Al Mamaux, who quit Brooklyn, and ■William Kopf, an ex-Red. Other ball players who picked what they thought to be “soft berths,” will be sent to the front if it is found that they cannot do the work assigned them.
