Mrs. Margaret Rees has returned from a visit at Goodland and Monticello. z received his discharge from the army Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Orlie Clouse, of Rensselaer, spent several days here last The local basket ball team defeated the Monon team Thursday afternoon. Friday evening they met the Wanatah team'and were defeated by them by a score of 19 to 22. Twenty-two Christinas boxes were sent through the local Red. Cross tothe home boys who are now in France and Italy. , , Mrs. Mary Parker and daughter, Blanche, spent the latter part of last week visiting Supt. W. E. Tennel and wife at Winamac. Mrs. Alee Pogue and daughter, Emma, Mrs. Hussey and son, Clarence, spent Thanksgving with Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Hubbell. Mrs. Fred Saltwell spent Saturday in Monon. • , Mr. and Mrs. Ross Nelson and Mirs. Margaret Hill and daughter motored to Lafayette Monday. Sylvia Sharrer, the nihe-year-old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F. L. Sharrer, of Benton Harbor, Mich., died Thursday, Nov.. 28, after a brief illness from diphtheria. Dr. and Mrs/ J. C. Sharrer, of this place, were called there Tuesday because of her serious illness. A surprise party was given at the home of Albert- S'hirtz Wednesday evening in honor of Mrs. Shirty birthday. Mrs. L. W. Hubbell and grandson, Raymond Ives, are visiting relatives in Hull, 111. Maggie Finnegan was a passenger tb Lafayette Wednesday. Mrs. Will Douglas and Mrs. Charles Kemp, of Kokomo, spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. J. P.'ArnMr. and Mrs. James Bradley, of Ladoga, spent Saturday and Sunday with the latter’s brother, Dr. E. H. Byrd, and family. Mrs. Byrd and children accompanied them home for a visit. Rev. O. W. Baylor, formerly of this place but now of Ottumwa, lowa, has accepted the pastorate of the Christian church at Plainfield, Ind. Amos Westphal and wife, of Mchigan City, spent Thanksgiving here with his mother, Mrs. Lena Westphal. Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Richardson went to Chicago Tuesday to attend the' International Stock Show. Mrs. Bennett Moncel and son, Melvin, of Damon, Texas, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Engle.
