Bones of Napoleon’s Heroes Paid Homage by French Poilus

An interesting ceremony was held recently at Rivoli, In the prov|nce of Verona, Italy. There, on January 14, 1797, Bonaparte won a great victory largely through the skillful use of his artillery. So it was only natural that in 1918 the French expeditionary force in Italy should choose the battlefield of Rivoli for its artillery training school. When the ground was being prepared for this purpose the bones of eight soldiers of Bonaparte's army were discovered and identified by their buttons as grenadiers of the guard. Their remains were solemnly-interred at the foot qf the monument of the battle of Rivoli, a detachment of French poilus rendering the last hom-, age to their predecessors of 121 years ago.
