Owing to the large number of crippled veterans of the western front, London dealers in men’s footwear' now sell single shoes for one-half the ’’’prices of pairs. To quote an advertisement that recently appeared in a fashionable illustrated magazine: “Wartime boots at 26/3 a pair or 13/2 a boot. The single boots, rights or lefts, are for those men who have been so unfortunate as to lose a leg.”—Popular Mechanics Magazine.
