Interesting new light on a phase of life in Bagdad is furnished by Eleanor Franklin Egan in Saturday Evening Post The writer declares : “No Insidel —it does seem strange to be classed as an insidel —is allowed to enter a mosque in Bagdad or any other holy Mahometan city; and so scrupulously is this Moslem principle respected by the British that they post Mahometan Indian sentries outside all mosque entrances in order to discourage any Tommy who in a moment of exuberance might be tempted to break in for a glimpse of the so carefully guarded mysteries.
