Charleston, W. Va. —The spirit of co-operation and patriotism is rampant throughout the coal mining regions of southern West Virginia. A preacher and his congregation volunteered one night to dig 100 tons of coal. Many miners -after completing their day’s work return for a few hours at night to dig more Many farmers, too, put in a few.hours at night in the mines.
