To find Julius Caesar applying for and getting exemption from military service, as he has done at Spalding, is something of a shock. But this is one of the names which prove that names are not evernhing. The most famous bearer of it-—at a long interval from the great RomanyJulius Caesar, the old all-Engla/id cricketer, was of an extraordinarily nervous temperament. His colleague, Calbyn, has told how he was always afraid to sleep by himself at a strange hotel for fear somebody might have died there at some time. “Julie” was also Ln nightly terror of fire, would never sleep in a room above the first floor, and often roused Calbyn at night with a cry that the fire had come at last.-—-London Chronicle.
