OBITUARY.
Bertha E. Payne was born at Rensselaer, Ind., March 19,4884, and died at St. Margaret hospital in Hammond, Ind., Sept. 12, 1918, her age being 34 years, seven months and 12 days. Miss Payne leaves to mourn her departure a mother, one brother, Louis; a sister, Mrs. I. B. Marion, of Rensselaer; W. A. Warren, of Hammond, her fiance, and a host of relatives and friends. Miss Payne has resided in Hammond for the past 18 years, at which place she was proprietor of the State Hotel. The deceased united with the M. E. church in Rensselaer at the age of 15 years. She was also a member of the Daughters of Liberty and the Protected Home Circle, of Hammond. She was a devoted daughter, a kind and loving sister, and loved by all who knew her.
