AN ANGEL OF MERCY
This British official photograph depicts most strikingly the part that the Red Cross nurse is taking in the great conflict that is now raging. She braves the shot and shell of the German guns and sees only one thing, that of caring for thq wounded. This photo taken on the British western front In France shows one of these “Angels of Mercy” treating a British officer who has been wounded in a car accident. Note the gas mask that the wounded man carries before him in readiness for any gas attacks.
