Gold Pieces for Buttons.
At least one American soldier will have real gold on his’person with which to fe make purchases that will sustain life if he is captured by the Germans. Bert Martin of Salt Lake City, Utah, who arrived recently in Seattle, Wash., said the boy’s mother sewed $2.50 gold pieces in each button of the young man’s sweater vest. The mother managed to get ten of the gold pieces in the buttons of the vest and additional pieces in other parts of his clothing. In all she concealed $55.
