SEPTEMBER 12 THE DAY SET FOR REGISTERING
President Wilson has set September 12 as the day upon which thirteen million Americans shall register for America’s greatest draft. Those summoned to prepare for service include all males between the ages of 18 and 45 inclusive, who have not previously registered. Out of this great reservoir it is estimated over 2,300,000 will be available for class one. Some of these will be called as. early as October 1, as draft officials estimated that the present class-one will be depleted then. The President, after signing .the bill, issued this proclamation. , _ , Provost Marshal- General Crowder estimated that 12,778,758 men would register September 12 under the new man-power bill. The June 5, 1917, registration was 9,586,508.
