18 TO 45 DRAFT PASSES SENATE
MAN POWER BILL GOES TO CONFERENCE AND SOON TO PRESIDENT. The United States senate passed the man-power bill Tuesday, and by September 6 all men between the ages of 18 and 45 will be registered for military service. The upper branch of* congress passed the bill without a dissenting vote. The bill passed the lower house with only two votes agajnst it. One vote was that of a Socialist and the other a Democrat. One or two amendments were added in the senate and the bill will have to go to a conference committee from both houses, but it is thought that they will agree without delay and that the bill will be in the hands of the President by Thursday, August 29. \ The bill is with little change the one offered by the administration, and will provide men Tor active military service sufficient to put the Hun on his knee in Berlin.
