Mrs. Williams will remain with Illinois relatives for a more extended visit. The Remington Press, published weekly, is to raise its subscription price August Ist from $1.50 to $2.00 per year. In zones 3 and 5, $2.25 a year will be charged, and beyond zone 5, $2.50 a year will be charged. Miss Fyffe left for Chicago and Mt. Vernon, lowa, Thursday and from there she will go to her home at West Newton, Mass. She has been visiting here three weeks as the guest of the Granville and C. P. Moody families. William L. Frye, Rensselaer’s popular bus driver, arrived home Thursday evening, after spending two weeks’ in Ohio with his brother-in-law, Roy Stephenson, who is a traveling salesman for a Chicago grocery firm in the Ohio territory. I find I am unable to leave without expressing some appreciation for the kindness and understanding shown me in spite of the fact that I am leaving my patients voluntarily—as to my attitude toward them and also toward Renselaer, I believe it sufficient to state that I ask nothing better than to serve here and live here, after either a short or a long service for Uncle Sam. DR. M. D. GWIN. Misses Florence and Eileen Redmand of East St. Louis, 111., who have spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Kiplinger went to Chicago and Rockford, 111., today and from there they will go to their home. Miss Florence Redmand made her home with the Kiplinger family several years ago. Harve J. Robinson, former Republican linotype operator, who has been farming in Mississippi, has gone to New Orleans to work at his trade until cotton picking time, work being slack on the farm now. He is working at both the Times and Picayune office, working at the Times office at night and at the Picayune office in the day time. He gets to rest from 2 o’clock until 8 o’clock in the morning.
