McFarland, of Barberton, Ohio, this morning called our attention to a clipping which he had taken form the Cleveland, Ohio paper in reference to Rensselaer’s hero, Samuel O. Duvall.
Evidently Sam’s deed of bravery has received very wide publicity. McFarland says: “Sam must certainly be congratulated on his cunning and bravery but to everyone the incident must have a broader meaning in that it is indicative of the resourcefulness of Americans in ‘anxious moments’ and shows that while the Hun may be trained to the minute in military affairs, when it comes to the personal equasion the German comes out minus. They can’t ‘monkey’ with the Yankees.” Mrs. John Williams and children went to Chicago this morning to visit relatives.
