COBB MAY ENLIST AT END OF 1918 SEASON

Ty Cobb has put a quietus pn the persistent rumors which have been going the rounds to the effect that he was adjusting his personal affairs with the idea of enlisting before the season was over. The rumors originated in Pittsburgh, where an army officer stated that Cobb had decided to enlist and that it was only a question as to when he could arrange his business matters with that end in view. Cobb says that he Intends to stick to the Tigers this season but that he was thinking of enlisting at the close of the baseball year, but had not reached a decision at this point. He intimated that he had been offered a commission in the motor-me-chanics corps but could not accept because of his business affairs. It is believed that the story resulted from this fact
