PURDUE HEN MADE FINE RECORD IN 1917
Purdue’s Queen, a barred rock hen, two years old, is champion egg layer of the state, according to records at Purdue University. Last year this bird laid 260 days in the year, which means that only fortyfive days during the year, not including Saturdays and bankers’ holidays, she failed to add her mite to the nation’s food supply. The month of March is doing pretty well so far. Outside of one day there have been none of the famous March winds in evidence and the temperature has been ideal.
