USES OVERCOAT AS BANK

Negro Proves Ownership to Garment by Disclosing Location of \ Savings. New York. —Monroe Smith, a negro, insisted in the court of special sessions that he had not stolen the overcoat of Leslie t>avis while he entertained Davis in his home. Smith said the coat was his own property and he had a right to pawn it “I can prove I own the coat,” said Davis. “There is nine dollars sewed in the lining." Promptly the justice ordered the lining ripped open and the money was found.
