J. L. Fidler, W. E. Fidler and Dr. C. A. Fidler returned home today after attending Mr. Fidler’s sale. -• L. S. Meyer returned to his home in Flora Tuesday after visiting with his son, Dr. W. L. Myer and family. Mt. Wm. Dixie and daughter, Mrs. Frank Tobias are spending a few days at Lafayette. Mrs. George R. Robinson went to McCoysburg today, where she will visit her son, John A. Robinson several weeks. Montana ratified the federal prohioiton amendment Tuesday when the senate concurred in the Kemmis resolution from the house. Phillips who has been at Demopolis, Ala., crying a large sale for Marion I. Adams and son, returned home this morning. There is nothing better than a good male quartette. Mrs. Kenneth Allman returned to her home in Indianaplois Tuesday, after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Padgitt. Miss Maud Daugherty accompanied her to her home. February 21st is the last number of the Lyceum course and, you can’t afford to miss it. Dallas Yeoman, of Tab, Benton county, spent Tuesday night with Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Strong of this city. Mr. Yeoman had attended the Liberty Bond meeting at Lafayette Tuesday afternoon. The financial success or failure of our Lyceum course will depend upon what you do Thursday night. Vern Hopkins, of Kouts,.. Ind., came Tuesday to spend a day or two with his parents, Mt. and Mrs. Geo. Hopkins of this city. Vern is working for the Pennsylvania railroad at that town. He will return to Rensselaer about May Ist, or as soon as his wife has completed her present term of school. The musical treat of the Lyceum season in the Christian church at 7:45 February 21st. Wm.‘ Bowsher in writing from Parr states that his son, Orville, is now at the 38th division training camp in Mississippi, where he is attending an officers’ school. Providing he passes the examination he will be given a commission as a second lieutenant. Sergt. Bowsher was a member of company M of this city. See Chas. A checker series held a few days ago by the local knights of the board the veteran Sam Stevens finished with a score of 5. McFarland and Maloney with 4 % points, each tied for seconfl honors. Hill was next with 4 points and Swartzell brought up the rear with 2. In the second series Stevens, of Rensselaer, and Loughridge, of Kentland took the honors with 11 points each. Maloney was next with McFarland and Hill followed with 6% and 6 points respectively. Oppey, of Kentland, followed with 5% and Swartzell had 3 points at the close.

Pullins, of Glendale, Arizona, iu renewing her subscription to The Republican, tells of the death of Mary Daniels Lane at Lawton, Gkla., on January 30. Mrs. Lane was formerly a resident of this city and her death was due to ptomaine poisoning. Mary Agnes Lane was born in Rensselaer, Ind., April 28, 1890 and was the second daughter of Horace Deniels, of Rensselaer. Her mother and little sister proceeded to the grave. She leaves to mourn their loss her grandmother, Mafy E. Pullins, two uncles, Samuel and Tobias B. Pullins, all of Glendale, Ariz., and John W., of Fox Ridge, S. Dak. She was laid to rest in the Glendale cemetery February 5.
