Increase of‘2s Per Cent Is Noted, Yet Earnings Are Expected to Show a Decrease. The express companies are handling 25 per cent more business this year than last, yet their earnings are expected to drop. This is said to be due_ to increased cost of materials and supplies and higher wages. The commandeering of baggage cars by the government Is also given as a reason for the slump in profits.
