Fifteen minutes after the subjectwas presented in Governor Bilbo’s message to the state legislature both Mississippi houses ratified the proposed prohibition amendment to the federal constitution. Only eight dissenting votes were cast. The Mississippi assembly was the first to act on the proposed amendment. The following table will show what will be necessary if the United , States is to becoihe dry: State votes needed for nation-wide prohibition—4o.
