“Nothing But Dutch Air Raids,” Says “Bummar.”
France, Dec. 12. Dear folks:— Received you letter, dated Oct. 8? contaihing the sleeping bag and am" sure glad that you got one located. Express is tenribly slow, after ft; reaches France, to come out to the front/ I also got the second package of Climax as well as the “Duke’s" and Bull Durham. I do not need any gloves as I have two good pair that I have not worn at yet. None of us have received any of those socks—the red and knit ones. The government has not issued us any clothes, with the exception of shoes. Our old suits are about worn out, but we expect another issue soon and I think wecan get along until then. We are getting our cars in good running order, ready for the call back to the front. There is nothing much to write about now. There will be plenty after we are back on the fighting lines again. There is nothing: much doing where was are camped, only Dutch air raids. Several towns are now prepared to evacuate on short notice. Am feeling like a fighting cock.
VERNE.
