Indiana’s Most Noted Prisoner May Gain Freedom
Indiana’s most noted prisoner at. the Michigan City prison, Rev. Wm. E. Hinshaw expects to see the prison door opened for his release on parole. It is reported that Governor Goodrich has definitely made up his mind to either parole or pardon Hinshaw, and that the action will be taken within the next few days, the state board of pardons at its last session voted two to one for a pardon for Hinshaw. One member is opposed to either a parole or a pardon. Hinshaw was sent to the prison more than sixteen years ago for the murder of his wife, when he was pastor of the Methodist church at Belleville, Ind. The Hinshaw case attracted na-tion-wide* attention seventeen years, ago. Hinshaw maintained at the trial that he and his wife Vrere attacked at night by burglars, who shot-his wife, but he was convicted •on circumstantial evidence. ' - *■
