Studebaker President Approves Stamp Campaign
South Bend, Ind., Jan. 9.—“ The campaign in this state to selL Government War-Savings Stamps and Certificates to our people is bound to succeed.” said A. R. Erskine, president of the Studebaker Corporation, today. “Not only will the people of Indiana purchase’ more than their quota of stamps, but the people of every state in the Union will do the same thing, because this simple method of encouraging thrift and savings is ideal in conceptibn and practicability. “It affords opportunities to every child as well as grown person to contribute financial assistance to the Government in winning the war, and thereby stimulate the patriotic spirit of the people, in addition to encouraging them to save their money The War-Savings Stamps are ideally suited for both purposes, and they will undoubtedly become the most popular of all national savings undertakings. No more ingenious or appealing scheme could have been devised than this simple method.
“I understand that the School children throughout the country are buying stamps in large quantities, and this shows the spirit with which our people have received the idea. When all of our people unite as contributors to the Government purse, they automatically become enthusiastic in support of its great cause, and this in turn develops the national spirit and brings all of us closer together now and for the future.”
