It is said that the shoemaker shoes everyone well but himself. This is true in the case of a wealthy man named William Nunn of Teddington. He was a. member of the famous lace making firm bearing his name—the first firm it is said to introduce lacemaking into England. As a boy of eighteen he bad fifteen hundred people under him. He had a passion for designing beautiful lace, and for inventing improvements in lace machinery. Yet he lived the life of a neglected hermit and the Windows of this man’s bouse, who had adorned thousands of other, people’s windows were hung* with dirty and dusty rags!
