WOOD CHOPPING BEE A SUCCESS
M. E. MEN 4LALLY AROUND PASTOR TO PROVIDE CHURCH FUEL. One of the most patriotic events that has occurred in this community, was that of the men, who on Thursday left their own duties to give a day of service to their church and to provide a fuel which would not in any way interfere with the limited supply available. The following men with sharpened axes went to the timber in the spirit of patriotism as well as loyalty to the church of which they are members: Judson J. Hunt, John Hunt, Henry Gowland, Thomas Redgate, Frank .Osborne, Charles Horsewood, Orval * Crisler, George Daugherty, Walter Lynge, W. C. Kincaid, Edward Herath, Herbert Eib, Marion Adams, George Collins, W. L. Bott, Sam Perkins, Thomas Crockett, Henry Waymire, William Waymire, Ross Dean, Dr. M. D. Gwin, Dr. F. A. Turfler, Henry Amsler, John Hurley, George Hurley, E. W. Strecker, Charles W. Platt, Charles Porter, George M. Meyers, Jay Stockton, D. S. Makeever and Samuel Roth. The result of the days work is twenty cords of wood and the satisfaction of a duty well done. While we are on this important subject, why would it not be an excellent thing for a large number of men to haul into the city to a convenient lot, a large amount of wood and then have some parties who have a saw, cut it up and have others deliver it, when needed to some of the deserving poor of the city? Commencing Monday, Nov. 26, I will make but two deliveries a day, the first delivery at 9:30 a. m. and one at 4:00 p. m.—James Snedeker.
