Granville Moody and C. Earl Duvall were in Chicago Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brown and granddaughter, Ruth went to Hunnington, Ind., this morning for a week-end visit. Simon Fendig returned to his home in Wheatfield Thursday morning after spending a few days with his sister, Rebecca Fendig. John Hedrick, whose son was sent’ to' the Reform school at Jeffersonville, Ind., last week, left this morning for Champaign, 111. E. T. Whitehead, who attended the meeting of the coal dealers here last night, returned to his home at Wheatfield this morning. Dr. Emil Besser of Remington was in Rensselaer on business matters connected with the Columbia Furniture Factory, Thursday. Mrs. D ivid Horsewood who has been visiting her sons, Frank and Charles Horsewood and their families, returned to her home at Ligonier, Indiana. -—“ Simon Hostetler has returned to his home at Middleberry after a visit with his uncle, Simon Hostetler.
Dan - Shay, former manager of the Milwaukee American Association was acquitted of murder at Indianapolis Wednesday. Shay killed a negro in an Indianapolis case last spring, in self defense. Ray G. Anderson formerly of Wheatfield, but now a member of the bar at Crown Point, Ind., was among the three hundred who failed to get commissions at the Second Officers’ Training Camp which has just closed at Fort Benjamin Harrisson. S. marine corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peregrine, west of this city, returned Monday to Quantico, Va., after a ten days’ visit with his parents and freinds. He has been there the past three months in training. He is very fortunate in attaining his present position, being the only one out of a great number to pass both physical and mental examinations.
