County Educational Notes.
The following townships held institute last Satdjdav: Newton and Marion at Rensselaer; Linion at Parr; Jordan at 'Union school ;/ , Barkley at Cozy Palace; Hanging Grove and Milroy at Lone Star in Milroy township. A very peculiar fact exists at Belle Center school in Marion township. There are twin girls attending this school and triplet boys. Fred Tyler is teaching here. The next regular teachers’ examination will be held at The high school building next Saturday, Oct. 27th. All teachers who do not hold or have never helda license in music will be required to take this examination. Examination will begin promptly at 8 o’clock. The music questions are prepared for the afternoon. Hence, those teachers who take music only -take this auh«= ject in the forenoon. This examination is open to all teachers who care -o take it. Teachers who make a year’s license on this examination will receive a license to expire in August of next year instead of October. There are a few licenses held in the office of the county superintendent awaiting the training certificate. The license will be issued upon receipt of this certificate. All state licensed teachers whose licenses are not already on retord in the county should send them in for record. The general institute at Wheatfield will be held on Nov. 10th. The general institute at Rensselaer will be held December 15th. Most of the beginn'ng teachers are being assignecLto different places by the county superintendent for visiting purposes. The teachers make a report of this day’s visit to the county superintendent. There are some very interesting accounts on file in the office already. Miss Kate Shields taught a model lesson before the institute at Parr last Saturday. ‘ This lesson was well received .by all present. The Fair Oaks teachers were late on account of machine trouble. Trustee Hammerton attended this institute and took an active part in their discussions. Fair Oaks high school defeated Wheatfield in a game of basketball last Friday after school. The score was 12 to~7. Trustee Grant Davisson took dinner and attended institute with his Barkley township teachers last Saturday. A.C. Campbell is president of this institute. They had a great time eating pumpkin pies at this dinner. Teachers are earnestly requested to pass the war material left for study purposes on to the homes in your community so that the parents may read it also. This can be done after you are through with the pamphlets in your school.
