In the later years of bls life the methemattrian Euler was almost totally blind. Then, and probably earlier, be carried in his memory a table as the first Mx powers of “series of natural numbers up to 100.” It la related that on one occasion two of his students attempted to calculate a converging series. As they progressed they found dieagreement In their results. These differed by a unft at ths fiftieth figure. The question was referred to Euler, who decided to make fibO calculation.
