FAIR OAKS.

Trustee Hammerton and others ate surveying and laying off, the ground for the new school building. Walter McConnell and family visited Dr. Fyfe at Fort Harrison Sunday and Monday. The pickle factory is still doing a rushing business. School opened Monday with more teachers and pupils than there was room for, and the Karr hall was rented and is being fitted out for the 6th, 7th and Bth grades. Wm. Wendell and wife are visiting relatives in Bartholomew and Boone counties this week. Mrs. Cottingham is running the hotel during thier absence. Miss Florence McKay left Saturday to take up her work as teacher in a school south of Rensselaer. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Potts went to Indianapolis Tuesday to see their son, William, who is at Camp Harrison. Mrs. Fred Call visited relatives in Roselawn over Sunday. Wm. Warne came over from near Morocco last week to attend the funeral of James Cox and visited his son, Leslie and wife. Chas. Halleck is picking and shipping pears this week. Wm. Odell is reported quite sick with appendicitis. Mary and Evelyn Abell visited relatives ni Gary last week. Fern Davisson and Mrs. Guy Potter are employed at the pickle factory.
