Slot Machines are Taken in Raid.

Deputy Sheriff Fred Stults, of Lake county, last night visited a number of Cedar Lake saloons and confiscated seven solt machines that had been installed by the proprietors since the Gary grand jury adjourned. The machines were taken to Crown Point and destroyed. While the grand jury was in session Sheriff Barnes and his deputies raided the same place and others and captured about twenty slot machines which were destroyed and the owners warned not to replace them. Notwithstanding this warning four or five of the resort keepers put in new machines and these were confiscated. It is probable that the owners of the places will be prosecuted. No machines were found at Ridge road tavern although it had been reported that they had been installed. Deputy Sheriff Fred Stults said that raids would follow every attempt to operate the machines anywhere in Lake county.
